Infinite While It Lasts

Inspired by the works and life of ‘Girl From Ipanema’ composer Vinicius de Moraes, Group .BR’s new play brings Bohemian Brazil to New York as of November 14.

Group .BR, New York's only Brazilian theater company, presents Infinite While It Lasts, a new, physical theater play inspired by the works and life of iconic Brazilian poet and composer Vinicius de Moraes (1913-1980), to celebrate his centennial.

The site-specific production transforms Vinicius' poetry, texts, and songs into a narrative of theatrical scenes, dances, and songs performed by live musicians. STAGED IN PORTUGUESE WITH PROJECTED SUBTITLES, the play explores love's many phases, and how diving into these phases allows us to live fully.

Opening November 14 (preview November 13) at Lower East Side nightclub Nublu (62 Avenue C), this immersive production brings the best of Brazil to downtown New York. More relaxed than a traditional theater, Nublu's dynamic environment helps transport audiences into the heart of Bohemian Brazil, where guests are welcomed into the culture’s warmth, humor, and sensuality. Actors and dancers move throughout the entire space, adding to the sense of intimacy and interaction.

Doors open approximately a half hour before curtain so guests can choose to purchase wine, beer, and authentic Brazilian snacks before sitting down to experience the show. Even the costumes have Brazilian flair, designed by Brazilian fashion designer Geová Rodrigues, whose designs have been featured in New York Fashion Week.

Created by Group .BR’s founders Andressa Furletti, Debora Balardini, and Thiago Felix in collaboration with the actors, and directed by Ms. Balardini, Infinite While It Lasts tells its story through movement. While this style of physical theater dissolves any language barrier, it's also a perfect fit for Vinicius' works.
