The time has come once again for Nublu’s annual celebration of all things jazz. From December 3rd to the 14, a varied assortment of proponents of improvisation-based music will take the stage at 62 Ave C to celebrate what started as America’s indigenous 20th century music but which now belongs to the world.
The musicians involved all hail from a staggering array of backgrounds and places but are all united in their desire to express themselves as freely as possible while avoiding sounding like each other. Generations, styles, sounds, approaches and philosophies are all criss-crossed and combined to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. The 2013 lineup includes JD Allen Trio, Hazmat Modine, Graham Hayne’s Synesthesia with Adam Rudolph, Reid Anderson with Bill McHenry and Andrew D’Angelo, and Sun Ra Arkestra, who are making a second appearance at the Nublu Jazz Festival. Join us for a full ten days of jazz!
