Nublu Jazz Festival 2014 – Sao Paulo

This year marks the fourth return of the NUBLU JAZZ FESTIVAL to Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Each year, the Nublu crew of trans-national musicians coming out of downtown New York, performs with local artists. The Nublu Jazz Festival always creates exciting, unpredictable and synergistic musical experiences that can only be found at these shows, presented in partnership with SESC. From March 26 – 29, our Nublu musicians will  alternate  their performances between SESC Ribaiero Preto and SESC Belenzinho. Representing the turntablist, jazzy, cosmopolitan electro funk mash-ups of downtown New York’s Nublu this year are Karriem Riggins, the free-ranging Detroit drummer, composer and producer who spans jazz and hiphop, jamming with Sao Paulo’s own electro-samba, DJ Nuts;  Bugge’N Friends, featuring Bugge Wesseltoft, the cool Norwegian keyboardist who embraces Nu-Jazz and punky techno, together with  Ilhan Ersahin,  Joe Joaquin Claussell, bass-player Marius Reksjo, Erik Holm and Andreas Bye; sweetly thoughtful jazz stylings from Brazilians Kassin and Alberto Continentino; the edgy electro urban soundscapes of the trio Nerve feat. Swiss techno-jazz drummer, JoJo Mayer; Jason Moran and the Bandwagon’s vigorous, hard-bopping New York jazz; and the timeless groove of legendary jazz-rock fusion guitarist John Scofield with his well-named Uberjam Band featuring ex-Black Crowes and Government Mule bass player Andy Hess, guitarist Avi Bortnick and drummer Louis Cato. Among the local talents joining the Nublu party are DJ ‘s Master San and  Magrao.  Once again, the Nublu Jazz Festival is curated by its Co_Founder Ilhan Ersahin,  musician/entrepreneur, initiator of the legendary Nublu club and record label on New York’s Lower East Side. Each year the Nublu Jazz Festival has been applauded for bringing its forward-thinking integration of artists to Brazil, and collaborating with the sounds of Brazil now to explore the sound of a new tomorrow.  We look forward to making our 2014 sessions even more memorable.
